ED COX WINS 2008 AZALEA OPEN

Partridge Creek's Annual Azalea Open was held on April 11-13, 2008. 40 shooters attended the Open including guests from Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland and Oklahoma. 20 shooters participated in doubles on Friday under beautiful sunny skies and temperatures of 72 degrees. Doubles winner was Grange Cuthbert with a 95.
Saturday held the 12 ga. and 20 ga. events with 39 participants. Everyone shot under sunny conditions until the late afternoon when it started raining during the 20 ga. event. 12 and 20 ga. shoot-offs were held later that evening. Tom Scott of Greenville was the 12 ga. champion with a perfect 100 with Billy Wimberly of Gilbert taking AA-1 with a 99 and Mark Howell of Goose Creek taking A-1 with a 98. Ed Cox was the 20 ga. gun champion with a 99; Mark Ivey took AA-1 with a 97 and George Carrell shot a 99 for A-1.
34 shooters participated in the 28 ga. and 410 ga. events Sunday. Even under breezy conditions, Mike Malone and Burt Ingram shot perfect 100's and went to the shoot off field to settle the 28 ga. gun champion with Mike Malone of Ridgeville coming out on top. This was Mike's first 100 in the 28 ga. - congratulations Mike!! Tom Hartranft of Greenville captured the 410 ga. gun championship with a 97 and Rod Stroman was the AA-1 champion with a 95 and Ed Ricker of Summerville finished with a 96 for A-1.
Congratulations to Ed Cox of Awendaw who won the HOA championship with a 388. Michael Barnett of Finskburg, Maryland came in second with a 381 and Jamie Bridwell of Greenville came in 3rd with a 380. HOA ladies champion was Carol Ebeling of Baltimore, Maryland.
