Partridge Creek's annual Azalea Open was held on April 16-18, 2010. 40 shooters attended the Open including guests from Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Maryland. 16 shooters participated in doubles on Friday under beautiful sunny skies and temperatures of 65 - 70 degrees. Doubles winner was Jackie Allmond with a 94.
Saturday held the 12 ga. and 20 ga. events with 37 participants under sunny conditions. 12 and 20 ga. shoot-offs were held later that evening. Ed Cox of Awendaw was the 12 ga. champion with a perfect 100 with Doug Thompson taking AA-1 with a 98 and Bobby Burnett taking A-1 with a 98. Al McCannon was the 20 ga. gun champion with a 99; Doug Thompson took AA-1 with a 98 and J.C. Culpepper shot a 96 for A-1.
36 shooters participated in the 28 ga. and 410 ga. events Sunday. Even with breezy conditions, Doug Thompson shot a perfect 100 in 28 ga. Grange Cuthbert captured the 410 ga. gun championship with a 98 and Doug Thompson was the AA-1 champion with a 96 and Bobby Burnett finished with a 96 for A-1.
Congratulations to Doug Thompson of Cherryville, North Carolina who won the HOA championship with a 392. Al McCannon came in second (AA-1) with a 391 and Michael Barnett of Finskburg, Maryland came in third with a 370 (AA-2). HOA ladies champion was Susan Thompson of Cherryville, North Carolina
